Sisterhood
The mission of TAS Sisterhood is to foster and further the highest ideals of Reform Judaism, to promote fellowship among its members, and in cooperation with the Congregation and the community, be a mentor for religious, social and educational activities. We accomplish this mission through social and educational programs, fundraising, community service and affiliation with the Women of Reform Judaism.
We strive to engage our Sisterhood members through programming and activities such as monthly Chai Mitzvah study group, weekly mah jongg games, Holidays in the Kitchen cooking classes, and varied fun Girls Night Out events. We further our commitment to the Temple and community by hosting a Selichot reception and a Break the Fast meal for the whole congregation, maintaining the Judaica shop, presenting Education events and Social Awareness programs. We also participate in Mitzvah Day and lead Sisterhood Shabbat and joint Brotherhood/Sisterhood Shabbat services. Our fundraising efforts help to support the Religious School, the Music program, College program, the annual Purim Carnival, the new online prayerbook and special projects for the Temple.
Our membership is made up of a diverse group of women of varied ages, education and religious observances who want to make Temple Ahavat Shalom a better place. It is our goal to have every woman become a sister in our Sisterhood and experience the warmth, joy and friendship we share.
