Ahavat Shalom is Welcoming and Inclusive
Temple Ahavat Shalom is a proud partner of Keshet, the Hebrew word meaning “Rainbow,” a national organization that advocates for full LGBTQ+ equality in Jewish life. We are a caring and inclusive community deeply rooted in Jewish values and traditions. We invite you to attend services and events to see how our congregation embraces the beautiful and diverse mosaic of Jews.
The book of Leviticus commands us to “proclaim liberty throughout the land for all the inhabitants” (25:10). This is an obligation that we take seriously at Ahavat Shalom. We strive to be a source of healing, a refuge from hatred, and a safe place for our members of all ages to live open and proud lives.
Throughout the year, we include LGBTQ+ issues in sermons, provide adult learning on relevant topics, and encourage full participation in Jewish life. Now more than ever, it’s vitally important that our synagogue is a safe and affirming religious community for LGBTQ+ Jews and their allies.
We are proud to be designated as an LGBTQ+ Safe Zone by Keshet.
