Attention all Religious School parents :

On Monday, April 6, during Hebrew School (5:00-6:30) Rabbi Klein will be on hand to lead the students in a mock Seder introducing the prayers and traditions of this special holiday.  We will also be sampling traditional Passover foods. To help offset the cost, we are asking each child for a donation of $3 so these special foods can be purchased.  Please use the enclosed envelope and send it in with your child.  Grades K-2 are also invited to attend this celebration!

In observance of Passover, a kosher style snack will be served to our students in Hebrew school on Monday, April 13. Therefore, please do not send snack in with your child.

PASSOVER CANDY!!  If you haven't done so already, please come to the Religious School     office to pick up your Passover Candy order!

Goals of Our Religious School

Torah Scrolls At Temple Ahavat Shalom's Werner Religious School we feel our children are Judaism’s most important resource and the hopes and dreams for our Jewish future.  We are dedicated to building a warm, comfortable and positive environment of Jewish experiences and learning for all our students.  We believe that Judaism contains answers to the challenges and questions confronting our children today, and that only a knowledgeable Jew can successfully discover these answers.

At Temple Ahavat Shalom, the objectives of Jewish education are to:

brick

Develop a familiarity with Hebrew terminology.

brick Feel a sense of comfort and familiarity with Jewish prayer, rituals and important home ceremonies.
brick

Read fluently from the siddur, picking out key words that help students understand prayers’ themes, and to be able to discuss the concept of each prayer in English.
brick Be able to walk into any synagogue and participate in holiday and Shabbat services.
brick

Act in accordance with Jewish values when faced with a moral dilemma.

To achieve our goals, students, grades kindergarten through eight, participate in classroom activities. Special programming includes worship services, holiday celebrations, Shabbat family dinners, music, art appreciation and Mitzvah projects.

Temple Ahavat Shalom is dedicated to each child’s Jewish education and understands that only through the deepening of Jewish experience and knowledge can a child strengthen his faith in God, love of Torah, and his identification with the Jewish people.
