Temple
Ahavat Shalom takes great pride in its Youth Programming.
Our youth groups provide social events, informal Jewish education,
Tzedakah/Caring Community projects, as well as worship services and
“shul in” opportunities for pre-teens and teens in grades 6-12.
Our
youth programs strive to instill Jewish identity, foster commitment to
the ideals and values of Reform Judaism, increase synagogue
participation among our youth, while maintaining a joyful, spirited
connection to Judaism. This ideal is pursued in a framework, which
emphasizes personal growth and leadership skills, all within a
wholesome, social, Jewish environment.
Youth
group activities often include participation with members of other youth
groups throughout the state of Florida.
Relationships are reinforced through participation in events that
take place throughout Southeastern United States including our Reform
movement's special treasure, Camp Coleman, in Cleveland Georgia.
Members
of our Youth Group also participate in National tours to places of
Jewish interest in the United States and to Israel with NFTY, The
National Federation of Temple Youth.
Temple
Ahavat Shalom’s Youth Choir offers an extracurricular music experience
for its students from Kindergarten to seventh grade.
The children learn contemporary and traditional Jewish music and
perform several times during the school year for holidays and Shabbat.
The choir has performed at Menorah Manor, Marriot Assisted Living
and Lansbrook Park as well as here in our sanctuary for Friday night
services and Sunday School T’fillah.
All of our religious school students are welcome and encouraged
to participate.
